The question that we had to answer was "What characterizes a Jatiswara?"

I think that various different jatis characterise a Jatiswara.

1. The bol in which the movements are executed ought to be distinct.
2. Each element of the adavu must be well defined – the feet positions mudras, movements of the head and the eyes, must be precise, not sloppy.
3. The character of the adavu ought to convey the mood of the piece.
4. Ranga kramana - making sure that the rhythm of the movements fits with the bol.

Answer: I think the different jatis in various talas characterize a jatiswara.

What role does rhythm play in dance?"
Answer: I think that all dances have rhythm in it. Without rhythm, the dance would be all over the place and the dancers will not know when to stop or pause or change movements. It plays the role of keeping the dance together.

When executing an adavu, one must keep in mind the following aspects:

1. To maintain a correct posture - Angashuddha
2. To maintain a correct rhythm - Talashuddha
3. To differentiate between strong movements (Tandava) and graceful movements (Lasya).
4. To be mentally focused

the question for the padmakosha class was what characterizes a jatiswara?
here is my answer : )

A jatiswara is a type of dance that does not have a text, or sahitya. It is a Nritta, or pure dance item where the jatis are set to a particular raga. Usually, each jati ends with a tirmana. The arudi following each jati is set to a different tala. (ex. Tira, chatusra, misra.. etc) the Jatis are created by fitting together adavus or variations of them to make patterns. The variations of adavus affect the complexity of the steps as well.

I don't really get the question but I think it gives you the beat so you know when to stamp or not.
