Teaching outside the country of origin

a) Setting up guidelines for a Bharata Natya curriculum

The project involves looking at various contexts in which the teaching Bharata Natya. is being carried out in India as well as abroad. Curriculums have been obtained from various institutions and are being studied. The final objective of this project is to come up with a set of proposals as guidelines for a curriculum with special emphasis on the needs of learners in North America.

b) Classification of adavus - the basic units of Bharata Natya

As a follow up to the viewing at the SRC, of the videos of Sruti Foundation’s National Seminar on Bharata Natya entitled ADAVU, this project is looking into the classification of the adavus, the basis of classification and the lakshanas or characteristics of each of the adavus, and documenting these along with comments on how to execute them. The documentation will include audio-visual material.
