Ranga Pravesh literally means entering the stage or debut. The significance of this is that a dancer, after years of serious study and intense training, presents a maiden solo performance of a full length recital. On this occasion, a certain number of traditional items are included which require the learning of the Indian classical dance form in all its varied aspects.

Ranga Pravesh marks an important stage in the training and career of a dancer. It is also called Arangetram.

Since 1983, several students of the Kala Bharati dance school have completed their training in Bharata Natya and given outstanding Ranga Pravesh performances which have delighted the overwhelmingly large audiences that have attended them.

    Seema & Jaya Srivastava

The two sisters, Seema and Jaya, started learning Bharata Natya at Kala Bharati at a young age. Her Ranga Pravesh was under the aegis of a re-organized and re-structured dance school in which a group of young dance teachers led by Saravanan and Jaya assumed the responsibility for teaching during the regular spring and autumn sessions. Bhava participated as a long standing member of La Troupe Kala Bharati. She had not only performed extensively in Montreal but also in other cities of Canada and in India. Before leaving for Paris to study, Bhava worked enthusiastically on the Window on the World project. This as well as her help in the administrative duties of the school has been well appreciated.
