In Loving Memory of …

Dear family, friends, dance enthusiasts, and community members,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing away of our beloved Guru, Dr. Mamata Niyogi-Nakra on July 6th. She was one of the pioneers who taught Bharata Natya in alien soil, and founded Kala Bharati in Montreal, Quebec. To all those that crossed her path, she enriched our lives by infusing her love for dance, as a Guru, a teacher, a speaker, a mentor, or as our Aunty. Her passion for dance, contribution at a scholarly level, and unceasing endeavors in the field of dance has left an indelible mark on many individuals and on the dance community.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to all the members in the family, all her students who learnt under her tutelage, and all dance and art lovers with whom she connected on a spiritual level.
As we mourn her loss, may we take some time to reminisce about all the good memories of her. May she rest in peace and love.
